Besides classic boats, there were a number of beautifully made scale models of various boats of all shapes and sizes. And from that, was born the desire to make a model of my own boat.

2020/21 Canadian Sailing Hall honours inductees
On the afternoon of Sunday, October 3, fourteen exceptional sailors were inducted into the Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame. This induction had been delayed a year due to Covid 19. With COVID restrictions in place, 60 individuals gathered to honour the fourteen 2020 Inductees.

Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary: Sault SAR, Cardinal Buoys and the Witch of Superior
The last big freighter to go down on the Great Lakes with a loss of life was the Edmund Fitzgerald, November 10, 1975. 29 crew perished. No bodies were recovered. It is a loss Sault Search and Rescue auxiliary remember, respect, and one that motivates their training and readiness. The Soo’s mid-July 2021 training exercise plan included a pilgrimage to the wreck.

Bruce Kirby – A Canadian Sailing Legend on the International Stage
No individual had a greater impact on the modern sport of sailing than Bruce Kirby. Known and respected worldwide as the designer of the ubiquitous Laser that now numbers over 250,000, and is an Olympic Class in two configurations, Kirby had a yacht design career that spanned over forty years, with feet firmly planted in his native Canada and his adopted United States.

Meet our Olympians: Will Jones and Evan DePaul – 49er
William Jones and Evan DePaul claimed Canada’s Olympic spot in the 49er by being the top Canadian team at the 2020 World Championships for the class. A highlight in their history together was winning the 2017 World Junior title on home waters in Kingston, Ontario.
